What is Hatha Yoga?

Yoga means union, to be one with everything, no boundaries, no separateness. Hatha yoga brings together two energies, Ha’ represents the sun, and ‘tha’ the moon. The practice of Hatha yoga aims to balance these two energies through asanas, breath and focus.

How can we improve our life force through the power of yoga?
Practicing yoga increases mental clarity and focus, improves energy levels, calms the mind and helps develop emotional balance.
Hatha yoga is a tool for tapping into our life force and expanding our potential. Practicing Hatha yoga postures or asanas, and breath awareness or pranayama, changes our bodies physically, enhances our awareness of ourselves and everything around us, and increases our resilience to all that life brings.
What can a person expect from my yoga classes?

My class typically starts with a few moments of quiet meditation along with some Brain Gym movements to help us feel more integrated during the class.
We begin with warm up postures, or asanas focusing our attention on our breath. The attention to our breath, alignment, and the release of tension in the body leaves yogis feeling relaxed yet alert. Through quiet meditation at the beginning and the end of class we can develop a deeper connection to ourselves, calming the mental noise we came into class with.

Why do yoga?

Yoga has benefits for our physical, spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing. Yoga asanas help to keep our body strong and flexibility, and the breath work helps to keep our minds calm and our emotions balanced. Meditation allows us connect to the deepest parts of ourselves, often leaving participants feeling more connected to everything and everyone. Yoga softens my edges and reminds me to have compassion for myself, and for others. When I struggle with a posture, or feel my heart grow heavy, my breath is there to remind me of the beauty in every moment we have in this precious life.
I am very grateful to have found yoga in my life, and I love sharing my yoga classes with you!
